Would you like to save your pocket and the Planet at the same time?
With the cost of electric as high as it is at the moment, even the items that previously cost almost nothing to run, now add up to noticable amounts.
There are many energy saving technologies and ideas you can try,
one that the majority of households can benefit from is to change their lighting to LED.
In many cases you will not even have to change the light fitting.
As well as saving money on electricity, you will need to replace LED lamps less frequently.
Also old style lamps are being phased out and you will already find that some halogen and incandessant lamps are no longer available.
How about adding sensors or timers to lighting, especialy handy for garden lights, no point them staying on all night plus it lets people think someone may be home. Smart speakers can be used to switch items on or off automatically at set times or scenarios.
Smart heating controls, these can make a big saving if used correctly.
If you really want to save, then solar panels could be the way to go. A 5kw array will generate approx £2000 worth of electricity per year.
If you already have an elecrtric car but no solar panels you maybe missing a trick, free fuel and 100% carbon zero energy. Using a smart car charger that only uses surplus solar could be a money saver.
Have electric heating? are your heaters smart ?
all new electric heaters are now required to have smart controls, these include timers, open window detection and can also link with central thermostats.
Other technologies are also available, such as heat pumps and battery storage.
